Born to Run

I would like to open with a quote by Prefontaine (a huge inspiration to me):

"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
- Steve Prefontaine

Do you ever wonder why you always resort back to running? I have tried several other forms of exercise this summer, but nothing make my body feel great like a nice long run! The feeling of leg fatigue, sweat, breathing, rhythm, pacing....

Today was one of those days. I needed a run! Nothing compares for me.

I was talking to a friend at lunch about my training for the Boston Marathon back in 2007. About the sense of achievement it gave me....about being in the best shape of my life. I want to get back there!

I feel inspired to get back there slowly. I no longer am running consistently every day and I miss it. A few years ago, I purchased the book "Born to Run" and just started reading it again. Its funny how I still identify with the book. I am born to run.

Question: Are there any inspiration books that help you stay motivated in your fitness goals?

  1. I've not really read any fitness books - only nutrition. But this one sounds super inspiring. I really loved the quote.
