This Weekend

This weekend, my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and family friend were in town.  Saturday morning, I went for a quick run and then met up with them to tour a few properties near the beach.  The market is so good now, it is always enticing to see what's out there in terms of vacation beach rentals.

Afterwards, we went for a nice walk along the coast.

 Followed by lunch- Fresh Capris Salad and Gazpacho.
Yes, my mother-in-law is amazing!  Her cooking is delicious!
We finished the night at my relative's house for dinner.
And the star of the show: Key Lime Pie from "The Upper Crust" bakery!
On Sunday, I slept in til 10am, then started with a beach run along the coast
After a quick 30 min jog, I met my family at a beach café for brunch.
Followed by a trip to the green market and trip to a turtle aquarium.

 After a fun day of adventure, we came back to my mother-in-law's condo and relaxed for a bit.
I ended the weekend with a dinner date at Panera with Bryan followed by attending the night service at church.

It was so nice to get in some quality time with family. I am so refreshed and ready for work today!

How was your weekend?

The Weekend

Ahhhh, weekends, don't you just love them?  This post is just a random, fun post about my weekend- how I am staying healthy and happy and enjoying the blessings of life.

Starting out, I wanted to share a picture from my commute home the other day.  I had never driven this road before.  I found myself driving for 10-15miles in a canopy of trees that was absolutely breath-taking.  I had to keep pinching myself- I seriously felt like I was in Savannah Georgia or something.

needless to say, I will be driving this way home more often

Other happenings from the weekend included a Friday night event, my husband and I attended at our church that had a chocolate fountain!

Glorious glorious chocolate!!

It was also chilly out that night and they had a few bon-fires set-up for s'mores outside at the event.  I know it sounds crazy, but us Floridians can't handle 50-degree weather.

This took me back to my camp days :-) sigh....love...

The rest of this weekend has been very relaxing.  I did a 50minute spin class Saturday morning, got some groceries done at Costco (love those free samples!), and have been able to get in some good reading.  I am currently reading "The Beauty of Broken"  and so far I like it.  I love armoires and it falls into that category.

A side note- this Coconut PB is absolutely delicious!  I just discovered it at Publix today.  It is GF, Vegan, and 100% awesome. I am still trying to think of what I will use it for... so far I just love eating it straight from the jar!

I also got my hair done- low-lights and highlights.  I love spending a few hours at the salon every few months.  I feel so refreshed and pampered when I leave.  I know with our new house that this expensive perk can't stay in my life forever, but I am enjoying it for the time being! ;-)

My new highlights/lowlights

Since this post is random I thought I would leave you with another random encouragement that I stumbled across last night:

"Take Delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and he will help you" Ps37:4-5

Sometimes it is so nice to sit back with a cup of coffee and delight in a good bible read.

Questions:

What was your workout the past few days?

Do you have a daily commute?  Is it long?
Mine varies since I am a marketing rep. But I love when I get to drive in beautiful scenery- which is not too often since I am mostly on the highway or in cities.

Tell me something fun about your weekend.

The Weekend!

You know it's going to be a good weekend when your husband brings you home Chipotle for lunch.

Sat morning Bryan and I went to a boot camp class. We started going on Saturdays and love it! Saturdays workout incorporated a lot of running so I actually got through the entire rep with 5 min to spare. That never happens!

It was pouring rain by the time we were finished so we drive straight home to shower up. The rain was still going hard at lunch time so Bryan offered to get lunch to go for us. So sweet!

I ordered my usual. The grilled chicken salad with peppers, onions, pico, corn relish, and cilantro. Hit the spot!

The ready of the day was spent relaxing with Pandora and pinterest til the rain stopped. Then it was off to Ft Lauderdale for a friends bbq!

A perfect weekend mixing friends and relaxation!

A Great Weekend!

This past weekend was so needed.  Friday night I got off work a little early and went out to the pool for a little reading at dusk.  I could feel the breeze off the intracoastal waterway - it was gorgeous.  Then a few hours later I went back to shower up and head to Hard Rock in Ft Lauderdale for girls night!

Me and Sarah

My friend Sarah and I have been friends for over ten ears since meeting in highschool and it is always a pleasure to meet up with her and catch up :-)

We met at a seafood restaurant called Blue Pointe.

It has delicious fish and chips and oysters.  We were lucky to get a table on the patio overlooking the fountains.

After stopping by a few bars/ clubs after dinner, I headed back home.  I love being able to sleep in my own bed and I was fully awake at 2am for the drive back.

Saterday was spent watching Season 1 of Gossip Girl, walking along the coast on Palm Beach island, and going for a 3 mile jog along the waterway.

Palm Beach Island

Since Bryan was working, I decided to take the time to watch girly shows since I knew we would all be meeting up at a Hibatchi Grill later that night.

For dinner, a group of 24 of us met up for my friend's 27th bday.  Her boyfriend flew in for the event which made it extra special ;-)

I love birthdays and decided to put all healthy eating aside to indulge in a huge slice of triple layer Chocolate Dulce birthday cake from a local brazilian bakery.  It was delicious.

Then on Sunday, Bryan came over for my first attempt ever at waffles.  I just got a waffle/pancake maker and was excited to try a new recipe I found on a cleaneating website.

Protein Waffles

I made protein waffles with added banana for sweetness.  They turned out wonderfully and kept Bryan and I full for the entire morning at church.

Sunday afternoon I invited a few friends over for a poolside BBQ at my condo.  Luckily it didn't rain til the end and we were able to eat under the overhang.  I love to relax in the hot tub on a rainy day anyways ;-)  Its so refreshing.

After everyone left, Bryan and I decided that we needed something sweet ASAP.  So we decided to make butterscotch blondies.  Recipe was courtesy of the butterscotch chip bag fom publix ;-)

They were delicious!
All in all a fun, busy, and refreshing little weekend!

Happ Monday everyone!

Today, I decided to start the week out right

The Weekend!

Its been forever since I have posted.  Life has been crazy these past few weeks but things are coming around again.

I have learned a lot about myself and had to keep my hope in God during tough times for my family but life is good!  My family is just experiencing a rough patch in the road and I want to be as supportive as I can be!  They are the world to me.

This weekend is just flying by! Last night we went to Guanabanas, a seafood bar and grill along the waterway in Jupiter.

 It was so nice to relax with friends and be outside!

 We ended up staying for 4 hours, just talking and catching up about our week.

I love being able to sleep in on the weekends and relax a bit.  I have really been focusing on relaxing and letting my body recover from workouts every few days.  Hopefully I can get in a long run tomorrow morning  ;-)

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Weekend Happiness + Spin Class

Bryan and I's weekend adventure took us down to Ft Lauderdale for a friend's birthday at the beach. After a 9am spin class I was ready to beach it up for the day!

After a few hours catching up with our long distance friends, we took a long walk along the coast and made plans to meet up with long-time friend. She lives in Ft Lauderdale and I never have the chance to see her so I always try to get every opportunity I can!

And THANK GOD she loves ice cream too! We found this amazing soft serve place called D'Lites Emporium. Every icecream is 50 calories a serving and they have all the toppings like YogurtLand.

After our delicious indulgence and some great catch-up time, Bryan and I decided to take a drive and find dinner.

We found the perfect little spot- Zona Fresca!
Zona Fresca. Its like a Chipolte but way better because it doesn't feel like a chain restaurant. We split a California Burrito and a side of beans and onions. Yumm!

The ride home was gorgeous! I love South Florida sunsets!

I feel refreshed and ready for a great week ahead! Have a great Monday!

Weekend of Breakfasts and...

Let me just put it out there, I LOVE breakfast food! If I could, I would eat breakfast for every mal all the time! From Blueberry waffles, french toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, eggs, omlettes- breakfast food pretty much satisfies every sweet, salty, delicious craving. Luckily Bryan is the same way and we got our ultimate breakfast fix this weekend.

We started off the weekend relaxing, watching:

Watching The Tourist. I thought it was well done- nothing overly impressive, but it made me want to travel to Venice.

Getting a Massage!
I got a deep tissue massage after my 5 mile run on Saturday. It was definitely DEEP tissue, relaxing and slightly painful- but in a good way :)

Distance: 5 miles
Time: 41 minutes

Breakfast for dinner! Bryan and I went to two breakfast places over the weekend. The Boynton Diner on Saturday for dinner. I got a traditional egg, bagel, and fruit breakfast- yum!

~~~~~
Breakfast for lunch! We LOVE breakfast food so we decided to go to Makebs Bagels for lunch on Sunday after church. Makebs has over 110 bagel sandwich/omelet/salad platter options! Delicious!
Oh! and...Breakfast for breakfast too!
;-) Bryan made me a delicious egg and toast breakfast Sunday before church~ what a nice guy!
Putt-putt golfing!
We met another couple for putt-putt and self-serve frozen yogurt Saturday night at this cute little place called "Puttin Around." in Delray Beach. It was so cute! Tons of tropical trees and plants and tiki torches- with food and wine service at every hole. What a great idea!
Question: How do you like to enjoy the weekend?
Did you see the Tourist? Whatcha think of it?
I like to balance it with time for me (going on a run), time with Bryan, and time with friends and time with God.
It was okay. Typical role for Angelina Jolie but surprisingly a lot less action than her other films.
The Street Painting Festival
So Last Sunday was the very first time that my family met Bryan's family. Well my mom met his ;) It was so exciting because she lives in Michigan and my parents live in Orlando and they both happened to be down in S FL the SAME weekend!
With common midwestern down-to-earth freindly roots- they got along great! We all went to the street painting festival together in Downtown Lake Worth. It was a gorgeous day and a perfect setting for everyone to get to know each other! Heres a few of the highlights of the festival!
Street Painting Festival 2011
It was a gorgeous day for it!
Clint Eastwood- this one was one of my favorites by far!
The dancers caught my eye- I loved the shading!
My friend Alissa came out with her lil pup :)
And because they were so pretty the flowers deserved a picture too ;)
Mikey Mouse Tribute :-) cause its Florida!
I wish they were all nice!
I can only laugh....Rude people can so easily ruin a day if we let it. I woke up this morning to extremely rude people. I canceled an appointment with my dentist and the receptionist called me inconsiderate and hung up on me midsentence. (I am switching dentists). Then an elderly man on a bike cussed me out as I was driving. This is no way to start a Monday! These people must be so unhappy deep down. I feel sorry for them instead of angry.
Instead I am choosing to focus on the good things in my life! My weekend was so nice! My mom came early Sat morning and we spent the whole day outside- buying produce at the green market, brunching at Paris Sidewalk cafe, gazing at the waves on Juno Beach, strolling along the waterway late afternoon, and finally watching the nightlife begin as we ate strawberry pie at an outdoor restaurant on the island.
It was refreshing! Followed by Sunday- stretching at a 6:30am yoga session, socializing with friends after church, admiring the detailed art at the street painting festival, munching on a cafe salad at the Cottage Cafe, and relaxing in the hot tub, and sipping on wine at the beach at dusk.
Isn't it crazy how fast things around us can change- one day to the next?! From a perfect day to chaos and rudeness.
I can't wait for my gym workout tonight.. things can only go up from here! :-)
Pictures from this weekend to come soon!...
